KINGSPORT, T.N., - The start of the AAC Conference Tournament ended in disappointment for the number eleventh-seed Columbia College (3-24 overall) as they fell 82-53 to the sixth-seeded Bryan College (15-14 overall) Wednesday night.
Columbia fought through the first quarter to end 19-13 and remained close in the second ending the half 39-28. However, Bryan outscored Columbia in the third 16-8 to open up and managed to lead 55-38 to start the final quarter.
The Lions lead by 32 points in the fourth and ended the game 82-53 and took Columbia's chance at a tournament win.
Senior Briana Johnson (Columbia, SC) led Columbia with 13 points.
Despite the loss, Koala players Victoria Williams (FR/Orangeburg, SC), Alison Sobataka (SR/Salisbury, N.C.), and Alana Weyer (SO/ Waterford, MI) were honored at the AAC Conference Banquet. Williams was named as a Champion of Character while Sobataka and Weyer were named to the All-Academic Team. This concludes the 2016-2017 Columbia Basketball Season.
