AU falls to Koala Basketball

COLUMBIA, SC – Columbia College women's basketball toppled AAC opponent Allen University 74-68 on Wednesday evening at AU in a hometown rivalry game.


Columbia opened the first quarter scoring 4-2 in the first minutes. The first quarter stayed tight and ended 16-17 with the Yellow Jackets ahead before the Koalas took 18-points in the second to finish the half leading 34-31.

AU led early in the second half and with two minutes left in the third moved into a 6-point led, but Columbia's consistency quickly took the score back as they outmatched the Yellow Jackets 29-18 in the fourth to close the game 74-68.

Columbia shot 47% in the field and 71% from the free throw line while AU trailed 37% in the field and 56% on the line. Both teams managed to tie the game 7 times and flip the lead another 10.
