The Future Looks Bright for Koalas

Although the Koalas were unable to sweep the Truette-McConnell Bears this season, the ladies have a lot to look forward to in the future. With Senior Amber Sherrill being out with an injury, that would open the door for someone else to step up. Freshman Jaida Hawes was given that opportunity and showed up in a big way. Although Hawes has played in multiple games, this would be the first game she's started. Hawes is known for being a spark on the defensive side with her quick hands and high energy. She was able to showcase that and much more on Saturday.

Hawes led the team in scoring with 13 points and 7 assists which were both season highs. She was also able to collect 6 steals on the defensive end. A majority of those assist were to Junior Morgan Varn who was able to put up 11 points and 6 rebounds. Following close behind was Junior Victoria Williams with 10 points and Sophomore Denijah Johnson with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Other contributors were Benn, Morgan, Mohammed, and Weyer.

The Koalas have a makeup game this afternoon as they travel to visit Reinhardt University. After which they come back home to face Milligan on Wednesday, February 6th at 5:30pm.
