In a game that needed to go the Koalas way, the ladies came out on fire. For the first three quater the Koals and the Yellow jackets went back and forth in a tight game. When the fourth quarter started, the Koalas were only trailing by 2 points and had a number of opportunities to take the lead and build upon it. Some unfortunate defensive breakdowns, clutch shooting by Allen and untimely turnovers, handed the Koalas another devastating loss. The final score 81-68. After Saturday's competition the Koalas are currently 4 games behind the 8th and final spot for the post season tournament. With 7 games left in the season, the window of opportunity is slowly slipping away.
Saturday saw 4 of the starting 5 players end the game in double digit figures for scoring. Leading the Koalas was Junior Victoria Williams who had 24 points (6-6 from 3pt). Also finding their shot was Juniors Jenesai Mohammed with 16 points and Morgan Varn with 14 points. And rounding out the top scorers was Sophomore Denijah Johnson who had 10 points and 12 rebounds, making this her 10th double-double of the season.
The Koalas have to find some rhythm if they want to go to Reinhardt on Tuesday, January 29th and win. Tip off will be at 5:30pm.
