Columbia lacrosse defeats Asbury 14-4

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College (2-2, 1-0 AAC) lacrosse team won 14-4 Saturday afternoon defeating Asbury University (0-1, 0-1 AAC) for the second year in a row, this time at home.

Senior Devon Walter (SR/Columbia, SC) was first to put a goal on the board for the Koalas as the game began in Columbia favor. The Koalas quickly added another 7 goals before the Eagles were able to add a single point. The half concluded with an 8-1 lead in favor of the home team.

The second half was another onslaught of Columbia goals. The opening of the second had both teams scoreless before two goals by the Eagles and a goal from Columbia brought it to a 9-3 lead. The Koalas came back to push another 6 goals while allowing only a single additional goal to finish the game 14-4.

Freshman Goalie Diamond Brown (FR/Queens, NY) led with 11 saves and 2 goals allowed for a save percentage of 85%.

Freshman Goalie Elle Zeeman (FR/Swellendam, South Africa) was awarded the win for 2-0 on the season with one save off a free position shot with 0:00 on the clock.

Junior Tiffany Tortorello (JR/Pine Bush, NY) lead in goals scored and assists with 4 goals and 2 assists. Aaleeyah Brimmer (JR/Charelston, SC) came second with 3 goals.

Columbia plays again this Saturday, February 25th at 3pm against AAC Opponent Reinhardt University at Younts Stadium.
