COLUMBIA, SC – Columbia College Soccer closed the second game of the season falling 2-0 to cross town rival Columbia International University on Wednesday night.
The game opened in a midfield duel as both teams pushed across the field. Columbia extended shots into scoring range but were unable to close on the score board. The Rams notched a goal at 12:22 on a cross into the box. Columbia dominated on attempts posting three shots to the Rams one but another goal from CIU left the half a 2-0 deficit for Columbia.
Columbia forced the tempo in the first ten minutes of the second half putting pressure on the CIU keeper with four rapid shots but the Rams held for the remaining time ending the game 2-0 for a Columbia loss.
Columbia posted 12 shots on the board and 1 corner kick. Senior Amber Tanner lead with 4 shots while Senior Goal Keeper Kat Yahnke held 4 saves.
Columbia plays again at 3pm EST, Wednesday, August 30th at Younts Stadium against Dalton State.
