COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference has named Columbia College Junior Heather Blaszak as the Offensive Player of the Week for the week ended 9/3. Blaszak, a transfer from Spartanburg Methodist College, has made a significant impact in her first few weeks in the program from the attacking midfield position.
In the past week, Blaszak came up big on two occasions to help the Koalas secure two draws from their non-conference games. First, she scored the game tying goal with just over two minutes remaining against Dalton State on 8/30 to knot the game at 2-2, a score that eventually was the final score after double overtime.
On 9/2, the junior again popped up at an important time, getting the assist to Senior Alexis Cesario for the game-tying goal against North Greenville University.
This award is the first conference award for the Koalas, who return to action on Thursday when they travel to the USC-Beaufort Sand Sharks for a 5PM kickoff.
