Yasmine Keeley sets 2 school records

This past weekend at the Wake Forest Invite (JDL Fast Track), the Koalas continued their indoor season success. This was the first time the Koalas competed in the Distance Medley Relay, and the team of Janay Chisholm, Qu'Essence Gillison, Lauren Glencross, and Alyssa Waibel, set the school record in a time of 14:03.
Lauren Glencross also competed in the 800m run and finished in a time of 2:24, good for 9th place out of 43 women. Qu'Essence Gillison crossed in 2:44.37 (36) and Irene Requena ran 2:44.92 (37).
In the women's 3k, Alyssa Waibel was just 4 seconds off her school record in a time of 11:36 (21st out of 38). Janay Chisholm ran 12:04 in the same heat. Annika Wicht had a breakthrough performance this season, finishing in a time of 12:40 and Helen Taylor powered to a 12 second career best (12:46).
In her 2nd jump, Yasmine Keeley qualified for the finals in long jump where she would go on to set the school record in a distance of 5.19 meters (17.025"). She finished 8th out of 44 jumpers.
Yasmine came back just over 30 minutes later for the triple jump competition and claimed her 2nd school record of the day with a jump of 10.03m (18 out of 30).
Kaela Hill, Amber Waynick, and Bryanna Sims threw the shotput and weight and improved over their last meet performances. Kaela had marks of 9.31m and 9.66m. Amber threw 9.19m and 9.86m. Bryanna threw 8.5m and 9.60m.
Both coach Nichols and coach Bishop are very proud of the hard work and tough performances of each of the women. The Koalas travel to East Tennessee State on February 3-4 for the Buccaneer Invite.
