Some great weather and tough competition positioned the Koalas to have an exceptional day of performances as they traveled up the road to the CIU Invite. Although no team scores were taken the ladies performed very well and made their presence known. Coming off of great success during the indoor season, the team had a lot of momentum going into outdoor and looked to capitalize off of that energy.
In the meet this past Saturday, the Koalas qualified for AAC conference meet in 12 different events. Of the 12 athletes that qualified for conference, two of which also qualified for the NAIA National Track Meet that will be held in May in Alabama.
Freshman Amber Bell qualified for conference in the 100m and 200m dashes. Finished 2nd overall in both events and also helped the 4x100m relay place as well. She was joined by Sabree Walker in the 100m who also qualified with a time of 12.83. Bell is currently running a time 12.10 in the 100 which is a "B" Standard qualifying time for Nationals. Sophomore Kelsey White-Kennedy has also qualified for nationals in the 100m hurdles, with a time of 14.84 which is also the "B" Standard.
Other athletes that qualified for the AAC Conference meet include Lauren Glencross(800), Courtney Lambert and Kelsey White-Kennedy (400 hurdles), Aija Wall, Sabree Walker, White-Kennedy and Bell( 4x100), Aleah Haltiwanger (Pole vault, Long Jump, Triple Jump), Heather Woolard (Long Jump,Triple Jump), Aleah Bromell (Shot Put), Morgan Cameron-Decker(Shot Put, Discus) Alondrea Reid (Discuses) and Audri Miller (Javelin).
The Koalas travel to Montreat this weekend for the Montreat Invite on the 29th and 30th.
