Koalas come home 0-3 from Oglethorpe Tournament


COLUMBIA, S.C. – Columbia College Volleyball fell 0-3 over the weekend at the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrel Challenge. The tournament hosted three NCAA teams alongside Columbia College in a round robin tournament to open the season.

Columbia started Saturday facing host Oglethorpe but dropped in three sets. Piedmont took the next game in three later in the afternoon but not before a tight third set before the Koalas closed out the day. 

Columbia played again Sunday, pushing hard against Illinois Tech, but again fell in three sets to the Scarlet Hawks but posted much closer set totals giving Tech a fight.

Freshman Kristina Heimbuch landed 14 kills with 45 total attacks while Shanae Hughes aided the Koala's attack with 23 assists.

Coach Stevenson was optimistic about the results, "We are still a work in progrss but we will get where we need to be. We have the potential to be a great team as long as we keep working hard."

Columbia plays again this Tuesday, September 5th at North Greenville 7pm EST. The game will be available via live stream.
