Bio

Dr. Alexandra Szarabajko, Ph.D., M.P.H., M.S., M.S, became the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) for the Columbia College Department of Athletics in 2025. As the FAR, she serves as a bridge between athletic and academic programs, supporting teams, advocating for athletes, guiding practices and policies, and cheering for Koalas.

Szarabajko is an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Exercise Science Program at Columbia College since 2022. She is interested in advancing science and practice, which is demonstrated through her published scholarly achievements. She has worked on studies examining recess quality in U.S. elementary schools and examined physical education requirements in U.S. universities/colleges.

She was formerly a teaching assistant at Oregon State University and a Grad Asst. Student Athlete Academic Success Center Coordinator at Eastern Kentucky University.

A native of Germany, she received her Doctorate of Philosophy in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Oregon State  as well as her Master's of Public Health from OSU.
