Men's Golf Finishes 7th at Sandhills Invite
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - The Columbia College men's golf team competed at the SCC Flyers Fall Invitational this week at the Longleaf GC in Southern Pines, NC at Sandhills Community College.
The Koala men finished 7th overall out of the 12 teams in the field with team rounds of 307 on day one and 312 on day two to finish 43-over par. Columbia's "B" Team then finished 10th overall shooting rounds of 328 and 326 to come in at 78-over par.
Nationally Ranked Div. III Methodist won the meet followed by Sandhills in 2nd, GA Military College in 3rd, Roane State, and USC Sumter.
Leading the Koala men was freshman Thomas Campbell tying for ninth after shooting team-best rounds of 75 and 73 to finish at 4-over par. Last week's AAC Golfer of the Week, senior Blake Vaughn, then placed 21st with rounds of 75 and 77 to finish 8-over while freshmen Jaxon and Zachary Mock each placed 34th shooting 14-over par. Jaxon shot 77 and 81 while Zach shot consecutive 79s.
Fellow freshman Christian Reese Hadley then came in 37th overall and was 15-over shooting 78 and 81 while sophomore Ryan Lord came in 42nd at 17-over after rounds of 80 and 81. Freshman Josh Brown then shot 84 on Monday before improving to shoot 79 in round two to finish at 19-over and in 45th place. Senior Jacob Fink fired rounds of 83 and 84 to come in 48th at 23-over while freshman Gavin Ratliff shot rounds of 87 each day to come in 53rd place at 30 over par.
The men will next be competing in the St. Andrews Invitational in Wagram, NC on Oct. 14-15.
