Men's Golf in First Place After Day 1 of St. Andrews Shootout

WAGRAM, N.C. - The Columbia College men's golf team is leading the 9-team tournament field by two strokes after day one of the two-day St. Andrews Sandhills Shootout at Deercroft Country Club in NC.

The Koalas shot a 310 in the first round followed by CIU, who were two strokes back. SCAD-Atlanta was 3rd followed by St. Andrews and Bluefield in the top five. Columbia's B team was also competing and was in 8th place after a 356 first day score.

Freshman Hayden Ardis led the tournament after round one shooting an even par 72 while senior Blake Vaughn was one shot back at 73. The duo each had four birdies in round one. Thomas Campbell was then next on the Koalas after shooting an 8-over 80 to sit in 16th place while Ryan Lord shot an 85 and was in 28th place.

Freshman Josh Brown put out an 87 to sit in 31st place as he was tied with freshman teammate Jaxon Mock with Gavin Ratliff in 30th after an 86. Freshman Zach Mock also shot a 90 and was in 37th place. Christian Hadley was also in 43rd with a 93 while Stephen Swenson shot a 100.
