Men's Golf Places 11th at East Tennessee

JOHNSON CITY, TN - The Columbia College Golf teams competed at the East Tennessee Collegiate in Johnson City this week hosted by Milligan University at the Johnson City Country Club.

The Koala men finished 11th overall out of 14 schools but unfortunately had two athletes withdraw from the tournament on Tuesday during round two due to illness limiting their chances. Cumberlands won the tournament followed by Johnson, Walters State CC, Truett McConnell and Montreat in the top five. CC finished ahead of AAC rivals: Bryan, Milligan and Union at +28 over par shooting a 301 on day one and a 231 on day two.

Withdrawing from the tournament were Parker Gordish and Zach Mock after they each shot a 74 and 77 respectively on Monday in round one. Daniel Freese led the Koalas placing 44th overall with an even par 72 on day one and a 6-over 78 in round two to finish at 6 over 150.

Sophomore Jaxon Mock came in 49th place after rounds of 78 and 74 as he improved by four shots on day two. Mock was at 8 over 152.  Junior Ryan Lord then finished 63rd shooting rounds of 81 and 79 to finish at 16 over 160 and also improved to day two. 

Senior Abigayle Johnson made her season debut for the Lady Koalas finishing 31st in the field after shooting rounds of 101 on Monday and improving by three on Tuesday to shoot 98 and finish at +55 over par.

The Koalas are next competing in the Trailblazers Collegiate at Marlboro County Country Club in Bennettsville, SC next Monday, Sept. 29. They will play two rounds that day in the tournament hosted by Northeastern Tech.
