By: MRG

Waleska, GA – The Columbia College (SC) men's soccer team will play one of the toughest opponents of their inaugural season this Saturday, as they travel to Waleska, Ga., to face Reinhardt University, the 2020 AAC Men's Soccer champions. The kickoff will be approximately 6:15 pm, after the women's contest.

In their last outing (Wednesday, Oct. 6), the Koalas (2-7, 1-6 AAC) faced their cross-town rivals of Columbia International University (CIU). Expected to be a tough match, with CIU showcasing its offensive power, the Koalas showed some toughness of its own.

The Koalas fought the entire game, including playing the Rams to a scoreless tie at the half. In the second half, the Koalas defensive was solid until two late goals from CIU sealed the victory. Despite the defeat, the team showed effort and commitment during all 90 minutes. Defensively, Goalkeeper Miguel Rivas-Giraldo controlled the net finishing the contest with 17 saves against 19 shots-on-goal.

Reinhardt, who enters the contest ranked 24 in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll, remains undefeated this season with a 9-0 overall record and 6-0 in AAC play. In their last game, Oct. 6, the Eagles defeated Bryan College 4-1 on the road.

The Koalas will return to home soil on Wednesday, Oct. 13, when they host Truett-McConnell University in a 1 pm contest.
