Columbia College Softball Travels Crosstown to Face CIU

The Columbia College softball team will travel crosstown, tomorrow, Friday, Mar. 2, to take on Columbia International University (CIU), in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) single game.  The first pitch is 4 p.m. at the CIU Softball Field in Columbia.

This will be the second of five straight road contests for the Koalas.
 
The Matchup:

This will be the first of two matchups of the season between the Koalas and Rams.  The two will meet again on Tuesday, Apr. 12 in a single game at Sutton Softball Complex.

Previously:

The Koalas split an AAC doubleheader with 20th ranked Milligan on Saturday, Mar. 19.  Kristin Wemes led the Koalas on the day, going 5-for-6 in two games.  Meghan Dennis pitched all seven innings in the game two win, allowing just two hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts.

Season Stats:

The Koalas has three players averaging .400 or better on the season.  Kylie Smith is batting .413, Keeley Hulse .412, and Jordan Kennedy sits right at .400.

Alyssa Diaz is leading the teams in hits with 22 including three doubles and a homerun.  Kristin Wemes is right on her heels with 21 (eight doubles).

Smith also leads the team in RBIs with 18.

What's Next:

The Koalas will remain in Columbia, Tuesday, Mar. 29, to face the Tigers of Benedict out of NCAA DII SIAC.  This will be the second matchup for the two, in the first meeting, the Koalas swept the Lady Tigers (10-7, 4-3).
