Koalas Win Third Straight

Columbia, SC (2-7-23) -- For the first time this season, the Columbia College women's basketball team won its third straight contest, defeating Union, 73-50, Tuesday (Feb 6).

Columbia College (9-14, 7-13 AAC) will close out its home season this Thursday, Feb.9, at 5:30 pm versus cross-town rivals CIU.  The Koalas will honor its lone senior in a pre-game presentation on Thursday.

In their previous two outings, Columbia College defeated Paine College (70-54) and Truett-McConnell (59-45).

The Koalas dominated on the boards in its win over Union (4-22, 4-18), outrebounding the Bulldogs 44-29.  Columbia College was dominant throughout the game, outscoring Union 44-16 in the paint, and the Koalas bench outscoring the Bulldogs bench 18-12. Union did manage to shoot slightly better from the charity stripe, connecting on 63.6% compared to 60% by the Koalas.

Renasia Jeter-McKissick was crucial in leading the Columbia College bench, scoring nine points with 10 rebounds and a block. Freshman DeAsia Feaster led three players in double-digits with 15 points.  Carnasia Wells and Aa'Breah Keitt dropped 11 points each.

All eight players scored for the Koalas as Payton Brookover and Dynasia Jackson scored nine points, Callie Hermanson added seven, and the lone senior, Kateria Brabham scored two.

LeAsia Linton and Raigan King scored 11 points each to lead Union.

Note: The nine wins is the most for the Koalas in a season since 2014-15 season when they went 9-21.
