Lady Koala Basketball Picked to Finish 7th in AAC
WALESKA, Ga. - Pikeville is the favorite to win the 2024-25 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Basketball Championship, according to the AAC Coaches' Preseason Poll released Thursday.
Pikeville (Ky.) received seven first-place votes for a total of 194 points. After finishing fourth in the regular season last year with a 17-5 conference mark, Pikeville went on to win the 2024 AAC Tournament and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament.
Milligan is close behind in second with three first-place votes and 191 points. Reinhardt (181 points), Bryan (171 points), and Johnson (161 points) round out the top five. Bryan received the remaining four first-place votes.
The Lady Koalas hoops team was picked to finish 7th with 114 points, 10 ahead of 8th place Montreat but behind TWU for 6th. Columbia is coming off a 12-17 season where they went 9-13 in the conference to make the AAC tournament as a 9 seed. They are led by third year coach Najarius Green and returning leading scorer, sophomore guard Anaya Muhammad.
The top 10 teams in the conference will advance to the 2024 AAC Tournament, which is set for Feb. 26-March 1 in Kingsport, Tenn.
