Women's Lacrosse Drops Season Opener in Florida

SARASOTA, Fla. - The Columbia College women's lacrosse team dropped their season opener on Saturday falling 24-2 on the road at New College of Florida in the program's first game since 2020.

Scoring the first goal of the season for the ladies was sophomore midfielder Meg Gill on an unassisted goal right before halftime. Unfortunately, NCF got out to a big lead going up 11-0 after the first quarter.

NCF then added six more goals in the third quarter and four more in the fourth while the Koalas got their second goal from freshman attacker Taylor Gipson to open up the scoring in the fourth quarter. Gipson also led in total shots attempted at three while sophomore attacker Madison Dibert led in ground balls with six.

Freshman Goalie Lillianna Imhof recorded five saves on 29 shots on goal as well. Columbia also won seven draw controls.

The Koalas will next be in action when they return home next Friday to host Warner University at 12:00 pm from Younts Stadium.
