Women's Lacrosse Drops First Game in Michigan

LIVONIA, Mich. - The Columbia College women's lacrosse team dropped the first game of their Michigan spring break trip on Monday afternoon falling 20-0 on the road at chilly Madonna University, near Detroit.

The Lady Crusaders got off to a good start leading 4-0 after the opening seven minutes before they went cold until the end of the quarter to take a 5-0 lead. Madonna then found their offensive rhythm in the second quarter reeling off 8 straight goals to lead 13-0 at the break.

The second half then saw MU post six goals in the third quarter before adding just one more in the fourth as the Koalas held them. Freshman goalie Lillianna Imhof went on to make 9 saves with a ground ball while freshman attacker Taylor Gipson led with two shots, a ground ball and a draw control.

Defensively, junior Briana Huff led the way with 3 caused turnovers and two ground balls while sophomore midfielder Madison Dibert and senior attacker Taylor Perry each recorded a ground ball and a draw control win. Columbia also forced Madonna into 18 turnovers.

Columbia falls to 0-4 with the loss while MU improved to 1-3 with the win. The Lady Koalas will finish up their Michigan trip with another NAIA game on Wednesday evening at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids at 6:00 PM.
