Women's Lax Scores 3 Goals in Loss at Aquinas

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Columbia College women's lacrosse team dropped their second game of their spring break Michigan road trip falling 24-3 at Aquinas College.

Aquinas (1-3) got out to a fast start and a big first quarteR lead scoring five goals in the opening three minutes before making it 7-0. The Koalas then got on the board with 8 minutes to play as freshman attacker Taylor Gipson scored unassisted. However, AQ would add three more goals to take a massive 10-1 lead.

The Saints then kept up their scoring streak scoring six straight goals to start off the second quarter to take an insurmountable 16-1 lead. Gipson then added her second goal of the game scoring unassisted again right before intermission. Sophomore midfielder Madison Dibert then added the third Koala goal in the third quarter scoring unassisted with under 6 minutes to go that made the score 19-3.

Columbia attempted 10 shots overall and seven on goal led by Gipson's five total and three on goal. She also led in draw controls winning five along with a ground ball. Dibert added three draw control wins, a caused turnover and a ground ball while attempting four shots. Senior attacker Taylor Perry led the team with three ground balls while also winning two draws.

Freshman goalie Lillianna Imhof made six saves and collected two GBs while junior defender Briana Huff forced two Saint turnovers as well.

Columbia falls to 0-5 on the season and will next return home on Saturday to host Div. III Guilford College (N.C.) at 1:00 pm.
