Women's Lacrosse Falls at Home to Guilford College

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College women's lacrosse team fell 27-2 to a quality Div. III school, Guilford College (NC) at home from warm Younts Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman attacker Taylor Gipson led the Koalas with two goals on the day as she stopped Guilford's four straight goals to open the game. Gipson scored at the 10:30 mark of the opening quarter and the 7:25 mark to pull CC to within three goals at 5-2 with half the quarter to play.

However, GC found their offensive rhythm and scored the final five goals of the first quarter to take a 10-2 lead. GC then added six goals in the second quarter to take a 16-2 lead into the break before adding six more again in the third quarter.

Five more goals in the fourth ended the scoring for the Quakers, who improved to 2-3.

Columbia goalie Lillianna Imhof made 9 saves on 36 shots on goal while the shot count was jsut 16-7 Quakers in the first quarter. Gipson led in ground balls with three and shots with five and won two draws while senior attacker Taylor Perry led with five draw control wins.

Columbia falls to 0-6 on the season and will next remain home to begin conference play on Wednesday against Georgetown College (KY) at 5:00 pm.
