Women's Lacrosse Falls to TWU in AAC Tournament

WALESKA, Ga. - The sixth seeded Columbia College women's lacrosse team saw their season come to an end on Thursday as they fell 28-2 to #3 Tennessee Wesleyan in the first round of the AAC Tournament from Reinhardt University in North Georgia.

The Bulldogs (14-4) will next advance to the conference semifinals to face #2 Reinhardt (10-2) on Friday. The Koalas finished their campaign 1-13 on the season and made the tournament as the #6 seed.

Sophomore midfielder Meg Gill led CC with a free position goal in the first quarter along with also winning seven draw controls while junior defender Briana Huff recorded a ground ball and caused two turnovers. Also scoring for the Koalas in the second half was freshman attacker Taylor Gipson in the third quarter. Senior Aiyana Hightower also forced two turnovers and won a draw control while fellow senior Cecilia Burke also won two draws.

Recording ground balls were Gipson and Huff while freshman goalie Lillianna Imhof made 8 saves.

Gipson was also named to the Champions of Character team while Laylah Belcher, Madison Dibert and Lucy Ellisor were named to the AAC All-Academic Team.
