Koalas Outlast Knights in OT

A dramatic late winner for the second game in a row granted Columbia College consecutive 2-1 wins in the AAC as the Koalas took down the St. Andrews University Knights 2-1 on the road in Laurinburg, NC on Wednesday afternoon.

A back and forth affair sprung into life in the second half when Brooke Piscitello found Jordan Myers with a ball over the top of the Knights back line, and Myers beat the keeper on the dribble before finding the empty net to make it 1-0 to Columbia in the 63rd minute.

After scoring so late in regulation in their previous game against Bryan College, the Koalas were the victims of that same fate this time as the Knights scored a goal off of a corner to make it 1-1 with under two minutes remaining in the game.

After a scoreless first overtime period, Myers ran onto a ball down the left from Kayann Glass with less than two minutes left in the second OT, and cut back across a defender before squaring the ball to Isabella Gurrieri to fire home the winner in a thrilling finish.

Columbia moves to 5-1 in the AAC after the win and returns to action on the road at newcomers to the AAC, Johnson University, in a 5PM kickoff on the campus of the Royals.
