Women's Swimming Falls to Brenau on Senior Day

COLUMBIA, SC - The Columbia College women's swim team fell 156-64 at home Saturday to AAC foe Brenau University on the Lady Koalas' Senior Day.

Leading the women was sophomore Kayle Buss as she won the 100 Breast stroke in 1:18.3 holding off her Brenau opponent by .45 while finishing 4th in the 100 Butterfly in 1:09.3.

Taking 1st in the 400 Medley Relay was the team of Buss, freshman Sabrina Schiavon, junior Giuliana Schiavon, and senior Andrea Piedra in a time of 4:41 while the women's 200 Free relay team finished 2nd in 2:01 and it consisted of S. Schiavon, Annabelle Lee, senior Kayla Harmon, and Isabelle Jensen.

Jensealso led the Koalas in the 100 Backstroke placing 3rd of 5 in a time of 1:13 while Sabrina S. finished 4th of 7 in the 50 yard Freestyle in 29 seconds. Harmon came in 5th in 29.2. Piedra then placed 4th of 7 in the 100 Freestyle in a time of 1:02.9 while Jensen then came in 3rd place in the 200 Backstroke in 2:36.

S. Schiavon led the Koalas in the 200 Breast placing 2nd in 3:01 while the 200 Medley Relay team of Buss, Piedra, Jensen, and G. Schiavon finished 2nd in 2:10.

The Koala men's swim team also competed with freshman Thomas Remely taking 1st in the 100 Breaststroke in 1:18 while junior Stefan Merkel placed 1st in the 100 Free in 1:00.9.

The swim teams will next be competing in the WPU Midseason Invitational in Raleigh on Nov. 22-23.
