Women's Tennis Edge Truett 4-3 for 4th Straight Win
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College women's tennis team edged conference foe Truett McConnell University 4-3 on Tuesday at home for their 4th straight win.
The Victory improves the Lady Koalas to 5-2 on the season and 1-2 in the conference.
Columbia grabbed the early 1-0 lead after doubles as the #1 doubles team of senior Aniya Sims and sophomore Ana Ribeiro won 6-4 while the #3 doubles team of Vienne Geren and Camryn McCutchen also won 6-4.
In singles, the Koalas were led by wins from Natalia Diaz at the top line, Ribeiro at the two line and Rachel Thompson at the five line. Diaz won 6-4, 6-4 while Ribeiro won 6-1, 6-2 and Thompson took it 6-2, 6-3. Sims fell 3-6, 2-6 at the third spot while Geren lost 3-6, 3-6 at the four spot. Freshman Bayla Burgey also fell 3-6, 1-6.
The Koalas will next head on the road to battle AAC foe, Johnson University on Friday at 2:00 pm in Knoxville, Tennessee.
