Lady Koala XC Competes at Converse Kickoff

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Columbia College women's cross country team competed in the Div. II Converse University 6K Kickoff meet on Saturday morning.

The 3.7 mile meet, which consisted of mostly NCAA D-2 schools, was won by Wingate, followed by Catawba, AAC foe Montreat in third, LMU, Anderson and Converse in the top six. The Lady Koalas did not have the fifth woman needed to qualify for a team score but among their top four scorers, Columbia finished in about 15th place among the 25 schools finishing ahead of CIU as well.

Leading the ladies was senior Mina Shull coming in 104th place out of the over 200 runners in the meet in a time of 26:07. Freshman Avarose Buccino then followed next for CC finishing 127th in a time of 27:10 while junior Juliana Gonzalez came across next in 129th place with a time of 27:18. Finally, sophomore Jennyfer Vigueras placed 143rd in a time of 27:44.

 The women will next be on the course this coming Saturday, Sept. 28 when they host the Akiah McMillan Invitational Presented by Koala Bottle which will be held at The Farm in Newberry, SC with a 9:00 am start.
