Lady Koala XC Finishes 6th at Furman
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Columbia College women's cross country team competed at the Furman 4-Mile XC Invitational Saturday morning at Furman University in Greenville. The women came away with a 6th place finish out of 9 teams.
The Ladies finished with 195 points finishing ahead of Div. II teams such as Claflin and Allen. Five D-1 teams all finished ahead of the Koalas including Clemson, Furman, Asheville, CSU, and Gardner Webb. The Lady Koalas were the top non D-1 school at the meet.
Leading Columbia in the 4 mile race was senior Juliana Gonzalez finishing 48th overall out of 70 and 2nd among non-D1 in 27:39 while junior Avarose Buccino crossed in 50th place (3rd in non D1) in 28:11. Freshman Annsley Howle then finished 52nd (5th in non D1) in 28:44.
Coming in 4th on the Koalas was freshman Aja Rushing placing 56th (9th) in 29:20 while fellow freshman Alissa McCann then came in 58th (11th) in 29:37. Junior Jennyfer Vigueras also competed placing 60th in 29:49.
The Koalas will next head to Brevard, NC on Friday to compete in the Brevard College Classic at 4:30 pm.
