Koalas See Unbeaten Streak End in Loss at Point

WEST POINT, Ga. - The Columbia College men's soccer team's unbeaten streak came to an end on Monday evening as they fell 2-0 on the road at Point University.

The non-conference loss does not affect their standing in the AAC and only drops CC's overall record to 5-4-2 while Point improved to 4-4-2.

The Koalas outshot the Skyhawks 8-6 in the first half, but could not find the net while Point got on the board in the 22nd minute of action to take a 1-0 lead at the break.

Columbia pushed for the tying goal in the second half getting four shots off to again outshoot PU 4-3, but Point ended up with the insurance goal in the 89th minute.

Senior keeper Nathan Huff made three saves on five shots on goal while Columbia totaled 9 shots on goal led by two from freshman defender Max Avila. Sophomores Jon Coonce and midfielder Angel Andreucetti also attempted two shots apiece.

Columbia will next step back into AAC action on Saturday when they return home to host Bluefield University at 1:30 pm.
