COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College men's soccer team kept their unbeaten conference streak alive as they rolled past Bluefield University 6-0 on a rainy Saturday from Younts Stadium.
The Koala men are unbeaten in their past four conference games while winning 4 of their past six games. Their record is now 6-4-2 overall and their next win will tie a school record. CC is also now 4-2-2 in the conference with 14 points and tied for 4th in the AAC Standings.
Sophomore Midfielder Angel Andreucetti got on the board first for the Koalas scoring in the 14th minute off an assist from junior defender Andre Jackson. Fellow sophomore midfielder Andres Abril then added the 2nd Koala goal in the 34th minute off an assist from sophomore forward Marco Novellino as CC took a 2-0 halftime lead.
Freshman forward Matthias Dennis then scored the first of his two goals in the 50th minute off an assist from senior captain Gabriel Hugo-Guadagno before sophomore midfielder Noah Poungthana made it 4-0 just 90 seconds later with an assist from Abril. Dennis struck again in the 54th minute with his second goal on an assist from Jackson.
Columbia scored their sixth and final goal in the 58th minute when Andre Jackson scored on an assist from sophomore midfielder Abner Madrid.
Senior goalkeeper Nathan Huff picked up another win as he made two saves in recording a shutout for this third win of the season. Columbia outshot the Rams 21-8 overall but were whistled for 13 more fouls on the afternoon.
The Koalas will next travel just a few minutes down the road to battle rival CIU on Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm.
