D-2 Ferrum College Too Strong for Men's Tennis

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College men's tennis team fell 6-1 (7-2 in matches) to NCAA Div. II foe, Ferrum College (Va.) on Saturday from the Koala Courts in Columbia.

Ferrum got out to a 2-1 lead after doubles winning two of the three matches. Winning for the Koalas was the #3 doubles team of Jonah Haller and Noah Snipes as they defeated the Panthers 6-0 on the third line. However, CC's top two doubles teams fell by 6-0 scores.

During singles, Columbia was led by a win from Snipes at the six line as he defeated his foe 6-2, 6-3 while sophomore Gabriel Kian lost a close battle at the 5 line going down 3-6, 2-6. Freshman transfer Len Spanier then fell 6-2, 6-1 at the 3 line while fellow German, Torben Paas fell 6-0, 6-1.

The Koalas fall to 2-3 on the season while Ferrum improved to 3-1. The Columbia men previously lost earlier in February to ranked conference foes in #2 TWU and #23 SCAD Atlanta.

CC is back on the courts next Tuesday, March 10 when they remain home to host conference foe Truett McConnell at 2:00 pm.
