Reinhardt Too Strong for Lady Koalas

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College women's basketball team fell 68-47 at home to AAC opponent Reinhardt University (Ga.) on Saturday afternoon.

Reinhardt got off to a fast start jumping out to a 19-9 lead after the opening quarter before a 14-12 second quarter saw the Eagles then lead 33-21 at the break. An 18-8 third quarter then put RU squarely in front going into the 4th while Columbia won the fourth 18-17 but could not put a rally together to catch the Eagles. 

Columbia shot just 28% for the game and 33 percent from three while RU shot 40 percent from three and nearly 40% overall. The rebounding battle was close with RU just outboarding the Koalas 46-43 while CC also forced 19 RU turnovers. 

Freshman guard Krislyn Wilder led Columbia scoring a season-best 15 points off the bench on 5 of 6 shooting while going a perfect 3 of 3 from behind the 3-point arc and pulling down 4 rebounds.  Junior guard Tysonia Lowe also played well off the bench scoring 8 points with 2 assists while senior forward De'Asia Feaster led the team with 7 rebounds and had four points also. Junior guard Lauren Wearbon also scored five points while pulling down four rebounds with an assist and a block.

Reinhardt improves to 6-5 overall and 4-1 in the conference with the win while Columbia falls to 6-4 on the season and 3-2 in conference and into a tie for 5th place.

The Koalas will next head to Truett McConnell in Georgia to battle the Bears on Wednesday evening at 5:30 pm.
