Men's Tennis Defeat Truett 4-3 for First AAC Win
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College men's tennis team defeated conference foe Truett-McConnell University (Ga.) 4-3 on Tuesday from the Koala Courts in Columbia.
The Koalas took an early lead by winning 2 of 3 doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The top team of senior Waldo Bosch and sophomore Gabriel Kian won 6-1 at the top line before senior Owen Brumfield and freshman Noah Snipes won 6-3 at the third spot to clinch the point.
During Singles play, Bosch got the Koalas off to a 2-0 lead by winning 6-3, 6-1 before freshman Len Spanier fell 2-6, 5-7. Freshman Torben Paas then won a marathon three-set match at the three line, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 to put CC up 3-1. Brumfield fell 5-7, 3-6 at the fifth spot before Kian retired in the third set of his match due to injury.
Snipes then clinched the win for CC dominating his foe 6-1, 6-0 for the team win.
The Koalas improved to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the conference and will next face Johnson University on Friday on the road at 2:00 pm in Tennessee.
