Men's Tennis Shuts Out Peace University

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Columbia College men's tennis rolled to a 7-0 shutout win over NCAA Div. III foe, William Peace University in the road in Raleigh on Monday afternoon.

 The Koalas got out to a 1-0 lead after doubles after sweeping both matches at the top two lines. Senior Waldo Bosch and sophomore Thomas Remely won the first match 6-3 before the freshmen tandem of Noah Snipes and Ben Brown won 6-2 at the two line. German native and freshman Torben Paas and senior Owen Brumfield then won by default at the third spot.

Leading off in singles at the top spot was freshman transfer Len Spanier winning 6-3, 6-0 while T. Paas won 6-2, 6-2 at the second spot. At #3 singles, Columbia saw Brumfield win 6-0, 6-2 while T. Remely won 6-1, 6-2 at the #4 spot. Freshman Carter McKie then won 6-0, 6-0 at the five spot before B. Brown won by default at the six line.

 

On Saturday, the Koalas fell 7-0 to conference foe Milligan, who were receiving votes in the NAIA top 25 poll. In singles matches, Snipes fell 6-7, 2-6 at the six spot while Bosch went down 4-6, 2-6 at the top spot. CC battled hard in the doubles as the top team of Bosch and Snipes went down 4-6 while the third team of junior Michael Schiesz and Spanier lost 5-7.

The Koala men improve to 5-5 overall and will next head to central Virginia to battle Randolph-Macon College (Va.) on Wednesday at 3:00 pm.
