#7 Men's Tennis Falls to #2 SCAD in AAC Quarters

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Columbia College, the No. 7 seed, fell 4-0 to second seeded SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) in the quarterfinals of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament Monday afternoon at the Champions Club in Chattanooga.

SCAD Atlanta (8-2), who are receiving votes in the national poll, won the opening two doubles flights at 1 and 2 to grab the early 1-0 lead. Senior Waldo Bosch teamed up with sophomore Gabriel Kian at the top line but fell 6-2 to the all-conference team while the freshmen duo of Len Spanier and Torben Paas also lost 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. Senior Owen Brumfield and freshman Noah Snipes also trailed 5-2 when doubles was clinched.

During singles play, SCAD clinched wins at the top three lines to clinch the match as W. Bosch went down 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to an all-conference player while Spanier fell 1-6, 1-6 at No. 2 to an All-AAC player. Kian then dropped his match at No. 3 singles while Paas trailed 2-6, 1-3 at the No. 4 line and Brumfield trailed 2-6, 0-1 at the 5 line when the match was called. All opponents were named to the all-conference team.

The Koalas (7-9), however did have eight men make the All-Academic Team as Bosch, Brumfield, Kian, Snipes, Spanier, junior Jonah Haller, senior Tiaan Jacobs, and sophomore Thomas Remely earned the honors while freshman Carter McKie was named to the Champions of Character team.
